Young Leaders teaches civics, leadership and statecraft to all youth though a collegiate-level exploration of what it means to “self-govern.”  It provides an educational portal for youth of all backgrounds to learn civic awareness, governance and personal and professional leadership though a collegiate level exploration of what it means for humanity to "self govern."  We focus on economic reality and on building financial responsibility, as well as understanding law enforcement and its application in society, the legislative and judicial processes involved in government on a local, state, national, and global level. We also have a rigorous journalism and technology component within the camp that exposes the students to an in-depth exploration of the fourth estate.

With Dr. Lohman, creator of the CogAT
In 2007 I was elected as interim President of OATAG following a near complete collapse of the organization in 2006.  Since that time, I have been re-elected several times.  With our board of directors, I have lead a renaissance in gifted education in Oregon.  Through OATAG's advocacy and outreach, we have seen passage of several laws critical to gifted education in Oregon, including a full-time TAG coordinator at ODE, and improving the TAG mandate (from "may" to "shall."  New outreach programs (Meet-ups for Parents, Inservices for Educators, Annual Conference, Website, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo Discussion Board, Quarterly newsletter) help drive education supporting TAG.
